First, you need a licence key.
If you are using a demo version, open the menu [Help-Product key] and
request a license key.
Then, create a new project in which you will analyze your code:
Open [File -New Visual Expert project] and follow the project Wizard.
UNINSTALL YOUR KEY FROM THE OLD REPOSITORY
* Open Visual Expert, and connect to the old Repository
* Go to [Help - Product Key]
* Select "Uninstall or transfer your Serial Number"
REQUEST A KEY FOR THE NEW REPOSITORY
* Open Visual Expert, and connect to the New Repository
* Go to [Help - Product Key]
* Select "Request a serial number"

A visual Expert license is tied to a Repository storing your projects.
There are 2 types of Visual Expert license available:
* Per seat: 1 license = 1 workstation. In this case, the Repository
is usually a local instance of SQL Server.
* Per concurrent User: the number of licenses determines the number
of developers that can connect to the Visual Expert Repository at the
same time. In this case, the Repository is usually a Server instance

After extracting all the files, the SQL Server Installation Center
window opens. Click on '_NEW INSTALLATION OR ADD FEATURES TO AN
EXISTING INSTALLATION_'.
Then select 'Install', then _'NEW INSTALLATION OR ADD SHARED

License terms window opens. Select 'I accept the license terms' option
and click on Next.

Visual Expert architecture includes a repository to store your VE
Projects.
Visual Expert will install a free version of SQL Server on your
machine if you select "Install a new SQL Server instance" when
prompted at setup time (you can also access this option by going to
Connect to Database).
This instance of SQL Server will contain a Master Database.
Plus all your projects and code analyses are stored in different
databases, in your VE Repository.
You can connect any professional version of SQL Server after (and
including) SQL Server 2008.
SQL Server 2003 and 2005 are not supported, however you can install
the free instance that comes with Visual Expert.
Visual Expert uses a SQL Server instance to store project information.
This instance must be Microsoft SQL Server; Sybase SQL Server is not
compatible with Visual Expert.

Yes, when major changes have been made in Visual Expert between
versions, we may prompt you to migrate your repository after
installing a new version. If you do get this message, please say yes.
Your project settings and existing projects should still be available
to you after the migration.
