First, you need a licence key. If you are using a demo version, open the menu [Help-Registration Wizard] and request a license key. Then, create a new project in which you will analyze your code: Open [File -New Visual Expert project] and follow the project Wizard.

When trying to request a license key manually, the Computer ID and Repository ID do not appear in Step 1 of the 'Enter Key Manually' wizard. This is because you have yet to register/request a key for your version of Visual Expert. 1 - Open the menu [Help - Registration Wizard] 2 - Select "Request a serial number" 3 - Fill in the form 4 - Novalys informs you by email that your key has been delivered. If you need to install a Minor release of Visual Expert (ie VE 5.7.70420 to VE 5.7.80716) you have to uninstall Visual Expert first. If the new release is a Major version (i.e. VE 5.6 to VE 5.7), it will be installed on a new folder and it is completely separate from the old release.
You can connect any professional version of SQL Server after (and including) SQL Server 2008. SQL Server 2003 and 2005 are not supported, however you can install the free instance that comes with Visual Expert.
If you are getting the error "Attempt to load Oracle client libraries threw BadImageFormatException. This problem will occur when running in 64 bit mode with the 32 bit Oracle client components installed" Then you need to install the 64 bit Oracle driver. When installing Visual Expert, if you get the error XML document (1,1) while trying to connect to the Master DataBase you need to remove VEBackgroundWorker in C:ProgramDataNovalysVisualExpertConfig then restart the MDB creation process. This error happens when a setup is already installed and we try to install new setup, which corrupts the file.
